Today is recognised as Blue Monday – a day in the year where many people find things difficult. We want t o highlight the importance of positive mental health and the great work done throughout the year by Samaritans so here’sa quick blog from our Communications Manager Simon Watterson:
A belated happy New Year. Hope you are keeping safe and had a good Christmas and New Year… all things considered!
I used to share a house with someone who was obsessed by lists. Shopping lists, daily to do lists, bucket lists… they were everywhere. Most had some items crossed off but I can’t remember seeing a completed one and never saw a list that had ‘JUST HAVE FUN…’ or ‘PLAY MUSIC LOUD…’ as an entry.
Maybe that’s why I’m not a big fan of lists…
And that’s why the following list is special to me. I don’t know where it comes from but a close friend sent it to me through some really challenging times and I found it helpful.
Get more sleep
Make time to exercise
Drink more water
Eat less sugar
Read and write more
More random acts of kindness
Don’t respond to negativity
Spend quality time with family
It’s important to invest in ourselves – particularly during these really challenging times. At Your Consortium we make a custom of meeting up at least twice a week online to share a little about what’s going on in our lockdown world. We all need to keep connecting and checking in on ourselves and those around us.
It’s been really inspiring to hear how our delivery partners have adapted to ‘the new reality’. Going the extra mile to support participants – many of whom are vulnerable and socially isolated.

Why not arrange a get together and maybe support them too? We all need a bit of help from time to time.
Meanwhile it’s back to the day job for me – maybe with a touch of Planet Rock Radio.
