The second beach clean with the Aspire-igen Lone Parent participants from the ATI project took place on Wednesday 21st August. The day is always eagerly anticipated by all the participants and their children, and this year as last, the weather was very kind to us.
It’s a great day out and a brilliant opportunity to meet new friends.
Everyone met at the Sealife Centre which is at the far end of the Scarborough north bay as they supply the bags to collect the rubbish together with pick up sticks. Members of the Sealife Centre staff accompanied our 9 lone parents and their 16 children who ranged from 6 months to 11 years.
We made sure that the beach was totally cleared of all plastic and other flotsam before going to round the Sealife Centre, who had kindly donated free passes for our group doing the beach clean.
Once everyone had looked round the centre we all sat down for a slap up picnic tea before heading off home.
Big thank you to Jeni and Lucy for organising and making it such a wonderful day.
