A Fresh Perspective on Hiring

People who have lived experience of overcoming personal disadvantage can bring a fresh perspective and new ideas that help businesses grow. However, due to unconscious bias in the recruitment process and negative perceptions, businesses often miss out on the fresh insight, energy and skills those from disadvantaged groups can bring.
North Yorkshire and East Riding LEP, working with the How’s Business team have just published a great article about the recruitment of people with autism. It’s part of a series of articles to help our SME community gain confidence and recruit from a wider pool of potential talent. They have already published articles on open recruitment processes and are planning future articles about recruiting those with a criminal conviction and disabilities.
