As Chief Executive for Harrogate District Community Transport, (HDCT) with 20 years experience in community and integrated transport Lyn has developed the organisation from its beginnings as a small local operation into a rapidly growing regionally focused Social Enterprise. The Audit Commission has identified HDCT as a national demonstration project.
She is an expert in cross-sector partnership working from grass roots to policy level and is a valued representative for the voluntary sector on many scrutiny and policy boards and groups at national, regional and local level.
Facilitating a county-wide CT network, chairing the Harrogate Transport Forum, an executive member of the Local Strategic Partnership and most recently the social sector representative on the Regional Transport Board, she is at the centre of the local decision-making process for developments in bus, train and highways issues.
In 2006 HDCT received a £1.1 million investment from Future builders England to develop a community transport network model that would provide the infrastructure that would improve the sustainability and support the development of local community transport providers as well as enabling local authorities to improve public services. This model is now being implemented.
A practitioner as well as a strategist who understands and uses the research and policies, Lyn not only talks about it she actually makes it happen.
