Angela was born in the industrial North East, her family worked in the steel and chemical industries and her grandfather was the last blacksmith at ICI.  She studied Graphic Design at Bath Academy of Art and following this moved to Peckham in South East London where she worked for five years to establish a community print workshop in Brixton.

In 1992 Angela moved north to York to work for the Yorkshire Rural Community Council, developing arts activities with rural communities across the North Yorkshire region.  Angela established Rural Arts an independent charity in 1992 and remains the chief officer.

Angela has a broad range of experience in developing and delivering cultural opportunities in both urban and rural environments and working strategically with partners including local authorities, community groups and business.  She has recently redeveloped the Old Courthouse in Thirsk, which is a public venue and training facility.

Angela is married to a farmer and has two children, she is a member of Thirsk running club and has an unhealthy passion for mountain and fell running, when she has some spare time she likes to indulge her personal creativity.
